Individual, people, forces, dynamic changes

When looking at my model which I presented in the previous post, it becomes obvious that I consider an organization to be a 'particle' of a bigger universe, which is formed by the perceptions of all the stakeholders.
Once you realize that the organizational 'particle' consists of smaller particles itself, it becomes obvious that analyzing each and every particle and their interactions, you may combine findings from different (scientific) disciplines. One may even analyze one particle using different disciplines and come to different findings. In that case it is important to understand what causes these different findings in order to work towards a holistic view of organizations.

Some particles, such as e.g. the individual/people can be analyzed using various psychoanalaytical tools, or psychometrics. Which parts actually form the individual/people I'm not certain yet, but relevancy vis-a-vis organizational realities is an important criterion for selection. The same principle is basically true for all the particles which I've distinghuised so far...

Apart from looking at the particles, also their interactions need to be analyzed. Just as physics recognizes four basic powers: electro, magnetism, strong/weak, gravity, when analyzing organizationsm, it is most likely quite worthwile to look for the possibility to distinguish different kind of powers. Probably at first one will be overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the number of different kind of interactions.

So the almost indefenitely large number of particles, combined with the almost indefinitely large number of interaction types leads me to the conviction that any analysis of an organization is always based on the status at that specific moment under review, and is therefore only valid for that moment, and maybe even for that spectator that is looking at the organization and therefore not really 'useful' for the future nor the past, er even other persons. As any of the variables (particles, forces, fields, etc.) will definitely change when one analyzes the organization at a different moment. Therefore its much more useful to analyze the interaction patterns, and the way they 'behave'/'evolve' over time.

Besides that it is probably necessary to distinguish the most relevant elements so that the model is comprenhensible for those who use it. There is no use in recreating reality in a model, as models are basically meant to help us to better understand the reality, by e.g. focussing on specific parts of that reality. On the other hand, focussing on certain parts, in order to create a more comprehensible model may make the model less valid, e.g. if one considers the consequences of chaos-theory (butterfly effect). Even the smallest, seemingly irrelevant particle may in the end have major unforeseen consequenses.
